The Best 240Hz Monitors

The refresh rate of your computer matters. Even if you have an excellent graphics card that can produce high frame rates, you won't get to enjoy them without an equally fast monitor. For the supreme visual experience, we recommend a 240Hz monitor. You can find these types of monitors among professional gamers, video editors, and other advanced fields. But to find the best one, skip the long search and check out our recommendations below.

What to Look For

Monitors with a 240Hz refresh rate are some of the fastest on the market, but there are still some worth praising and others worth avoiding. That’s why we looked for the best options using four questions to guide us: What is the resolution? What is the response time? What type of display is it? Does it have a fair price for the same image quality? Our favorite option came from Sceptre, whose E275B-FWD240 model has full HD, fast response time, and a bargain price. But if you want something with greater immersion, consider the curved 27-inch monitor from AOC, which we review below. There’s a lot to unpack, so let’s dive in.

Best Overall

Find on Amazon

Sceptre is an acclaimed name in the monitor business thanks to their excellent hardware and reasonable prices. But this 240Hz monitor is more than just reasonably priced; it’s a downright bargain. It earns its spot at the top of our list with all the gaming-ready specs we could ask for, including FreeSync compatibility, full HD resolution, and both DisplayPort and HDMI inputs. Surprisingly, it also has quality built-in speakers and a height-adjustable stand, so it’s a versatile display that can be used for streaming shows, video editing, gaming, and more.

Pros:

  • Bargain price
  • Nice and bright
  • Competitive gaming specs
  • Supports DisplayPort and HDMI
  • Easy to adjust the height and angle to your liking

Cons:

  • It’s LED, so the colors aren’t as vivid compared to those on an IPS screen

AOC Curved Ultra-Fast Gaming Monitor, C27G2Z

Immersion at its finest

This wicked-fast monitor has a lightly curved screen to help you get your head in the game.
Best Curved Screen

Find on Amazon

Another affordable 240Hz monitor, this one sports a lightly curved screen to keep you right in the center of the action. The curvature is 1500R, which hits the sweet spot between curved and flat. It’s something you may have to see to believe, but we genuinely find it offers greater immersion when playing video games. Add to that the full HD resolution, 0.5ms response time, and 27-inch size, and you have yourself one excellent piece of hardware that punches high above its price point.

Pros:

  • Compatible with FreeSync
  • Speedy response time
  • The angle and height can be adjusted
  • The “frameless” design adds to the immersion

Cons:

  • Because it’s curved, the ideal viewing angle is limited to the center

Pros:

  • Useful presets for gaming
  • Excellent choice for color correction and video editing

Samsung Odyssey G7 Series Gaming Monitor, LC27G75TQSNXZA

Climb the ranks

With an extremely fast response time and a WQHD screen resolution, this one is worthy of professional gaming.
Best For Competitive Gaming

Find on Amazon

Competitive gaming requires competitive specs. The Odyssey G7 Series from Samsung offers precisely that: a 1ms response time, a 27-inch curved screen, and a reliable 240Hz refresh rate. But the most impressive part is the WQHD (also known as 1440p) resolution, which helps you hone in on fine details to distinguish a distant rustle in the bushes from an enemy on the move. Ideal for first-person shooters, this high-speed, high-res monitor may just give you a game-winning edge over the competition.

Pros:

  • Supports HDR 600
  • Acceptable specs for professional gaming
  • The curvature of 1000R offers greater immersion
  • The 1440p resolution is a rarity among 240Hz monitors

Cons:

  • Because the curvature is high, at 1000R, there are limited viewing angles and distances

Far from cheap

This premium monitor has all the specs and resolution to deliver an unforgettable viewing experience.
Premium Pick

Find on Amazon

Samsung’s Odyssey G9 gaming monitor is pretty much as premium as it gets. This massive display offers a gorgeous dual QHD resolution, so it’s like two 1440p monitors side-by-side. And even with all that screen to illuminate, it still manages to achieve a 240Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time. That makes it a proper gaming monitor, but it’s an excellent option for computer work, as you can open and view multiple windows simultaneously. Indeed, you can forget about the need for a dual-monitor setup with the Odyssey G9.

Pros:

  • Ideal for multitasking
  • QLED offers excellent color dynamics
  • Dual QHD resolution delivers greater clarity
  • Highly customizable, with settings such as local dimming and HDR

Cons:

  • Super expensive

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a 1000R and 1500R curved screen?

Monitor curvature is measured by radius length. If you were to look down at the monitor from above and extend the curvature out and around into a complete circle, you could then measure the radius of that circle in millimeters. Thus, more extreme curvature leads to smaller circles and, consequently, shorter radiuses. That’s why 1000R monitors have more extreme curvature than 1500R monitors since their circle’s radius is shorter.

Does the refresh rate of a monitor matter?

A monitor’s refresh rate is most important when it comes to gaming. Many modern graphics cards can produce extremely high frame rates, but you won’t get to enjoy those if your monitor’s refresh rate can’t keep up. For example, in competitive shooters such as Valorant and Counter-Strike, your very high refresh rate and response time when swinging a corner can mean the difference between losing a round and clutching the game.
